About the Role 

SPA Australia company, is seeking a full-time Service Desk Officer, based on-site in Canberra, to manage and maintain our corporate environment. 

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for IT support, delivering a high standard of customer service and clear communication to nontechnical users while managing requests from initial triage through to resolution. You will log, prioritise, and resolve incidents and service requests in the ticketing system, aiming for first contact resolution where possible and escalating effectively when required, supported by accurate and high quality documentation.  

The role provides hand son support across a modern end user environment, including Windows, Microsoft 365 services, user access and identity management, endpoint devices, and meeting room/AV technologies. You will use and contribute to knowledge base articles, assist with identifying recurring issues and root causes, support small technology projects or rollouts, and apply security minded practices in line with the Essential Eight and other relevant security standards in your day today work. 

This is a fast-paced, hands-on position where you’ll be part of a small team supporting a growing organisation across two Canberra sites.

Responsibilities:

• Support Microsoft 365 services, including configuration and maintenance. 

• Configure basic identity settings such as MFA, security groups, and Entra ID for users. 

• Provide Level 1 and 2 technical support for hardware, software, and network issues. 

• Manage IT service requests and incidents via the internal ticketing system, including gathering diagnostic information for tickets and acting as first point of contact for staff. 

• Procure IT hardware and software and coordinate with vendors for delivery and support. 

• Schedule and coordinate maintenance and system upgrades with internal teams and external providers. 

• Support desktop endpoints and peripherals, including printers, docks, headsets and mobile devices 

• Maintain high-quality ticket notes, internal and public-facing knowledge base content, and simple SOPs to improve first-time resolution and self-service.  

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

• 2+ years’ experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure roles within a corporate or government environment 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently 

• Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills, including documentation and reporting 

• Strong organisational and coordination abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities 

• A proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships and communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical users 

• Knowledge of and/or experience with cyber security standards, such as the Essential Eight, PSPF, and ISM 

• To be eligible for this role, you must hold — or be able to obtain — an Australian Government Security Clearance 

Over 2 years’ experience working within government, consulting, or a professional services environment will be highly regarded.

About the Role

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level calendar management and prioritisation support to up to four National Leads, ensuring efficient daily planning.

• Create and format professional documents and communications using the MS Office suite.

• Manage confidential and sensitive matters with professionalism, integrity, and trust.

• Oversee day-to-day office functions, including supplies, equipment, meeting rooms, reception, incoming and outgoing mail and general upkeep.

• Manage day to day office maintenance and ensure a safe work environment.

• Welcome guests, manage incoming calls, and maintain a polished front-of-house experience.

• Support the successful planning and execution of in-office events and workshops including providing advice on event set up and arranging catering.

• Enable consistent application of business-wide policy and procedures, such as advising on logistics and travel bookings.

• Work with the people team to enhance the employee experience through support for onboarding, offboarding and reward and recognition activities.

• Prepare management reports, assist with budget monitoring, forecasting, and expense tracking.

• Work with the Technology team to coordinate office IT needs and ensure smooth infrastructure support.

• Coordinate and attend internal and external events in collaboration with the Communications & Marketing team.

• Act as the Fire and Disaster Prevention Officer, manage inspections/reporting, and take initiative on ad-hoc projects.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

·         Minimum 5 Years’ Experience in a similar office management or executive support role within a corporate or professional services environment.

·         Advanced MS Office Skills – Confident using Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint to create high-quality documents, presentations, and reports, and applying company styles in line with branding guidance

·         Strong Organisational & Time Management Abilities – Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and schedules with minimal supervision.

·         Professional Communication Skills – Clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication, with a customer-focused mindset.

SPA is seeking a passionate and dedicated Practice Lead to drive the Commercial practice.

This role provides strategic leadership across a high-performing team that works closely with federal government clients. The team’s main work includes running or supporting government clients to run major procurements, procurement capability reviews, and advice on improving procurement functions, contract management, and probity advice.

This role requires a strong, dynamic yet inclusive leader who can manage and mentor teams and build team capability. You will oversee the team’s delivery of projects while remaining hands-on with complex procurement and contract work with government clients and internal teams. The Practice Lead works closely with and is supported by three Team Leads, and collaborates with the Legal, Consulting and Defence & Analytics Practice Leads to meet the needs of the business. 

As the National Lead for the team, you will have a significant role in business development. Success depends on leveraging networks, spotting opportunities, and overseeing tenders and quotes (including pricing). Strong government and industry relationships, commercial judgment, and financial acumen are essential.

As the National Lead – Commercial, you will be a key contributor, champion, and advocate for the SPA Australia Business Plan. You will set the strategic vision for the Commercial practice, champion excellence, and ensure SPA remains the first-choice advisor for procurement, contracts, probity, and commercial solutions.

A strategic mindset, combined with clear thinking and effective communication is required to set the vision for the Commercial Practice, establishing standards of excellence and upholding SPA’s values and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Lead the Commercial practice strategy development and execution to support organisational objectives.

• Collaborate with other Practice Leads and the Managing Director to maximise opportunities and staffing utilisation.

• Drive business development initiatives, leveraging networks to strengthen client relationships and grow the practice.

• Build and nurture external relationships, engaging in client issue management for best outcomes.

• Oversee/lead/deliver complex procurements, across all phases of the procurement including planning, tendering, evaluation, contract negotiation, supplier transition, and ongoing contract management.

• Oversee/lead/deliver drafting, reviews, negotiations, and management of commercial contracts, ensuring compliance and alignment with procurement rules and guidelines.

• Provide expert commercial guidance on complex business transactions and procurement matters to team members and clients, alike.

• Lead high-level negotiations on behalf of clients.

• Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, contract lifecycle management, and commercial frameworks.

• Oversee a team of approximately 25 staff including ~3 Team Leads, and oversee staff performance management, salary and promotions reviews, hiring and departure decisions.

Required Experience: 

• 15+ years’ experience in Commercial work with Government clients including contracting, procurement, governance, and probity.

• Extensive experience in government sourcing, procurement strategy, commercial model development, and end-to-end management of complex procurements, including tenders, evaluations, negotiations, and ongoing contract oversight.

• Proven track record in identifying, targeting and converting job opportunities in line with the practice plan.

• Proven track record delivering commercial advisory services across multiple client and programs, including ICT and Defence, as an advisory consultant.

• Experience leading commercial advisory teams, including mentoring and capability building.

• Strong client engagement and relationship management skills.

• Current NV2 Australian security clearance, or current NV1 and ability to obtain and maintain an NV2 clearance to delivery client work.

Desired Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in law, business, commerce, finance, accounting, supply chain management or other relevant qualification.

• Executive MBA or postgraduate qualifications in business administration, procurement, or contract management of interest.

Cost Modelling & Commercial Specialist – Commercial Group

Our team is growing, with client work ready to be delivered. We are seeking a candidate with experience in cost modelling, financial analysis or commercial advisory, ideally CPA-qualified extensive expertise in managing strategic and financial operations for government projects or agencies.

The Procurement & Contract team delivers on-site services to our Commonwealth clients. We assist our clients to solve real problems and strive to make a meaningful difference.

Our clients are seeking high-level support for complex procurement and commercial activities, particularly within ICT or Defence environments. In addition, our other Federal Government clients are delivering a range of high-profile and complex programs that require specialist expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage stakeholders and maintain high-quality project documentation to support successful client and project outcomes

• Apply expertise in cost modelling, financial analysis, and commercial advisory within Defence or comparable complex environments

• Plan and deliver major procurement and commercial projects across their full lifecycle

• Develop RFx documentation, support tender evaluations, and contribute to contract negotiations to achieve value for money

• Provide first-line probity, governance, and assurance advice to ensure ethical and compliant procurement practices

• Support contract and vendor management activities, identifying and managing risks, issues, and compliance obligations

• Deliver value-based commercial and financial outcomes for business areas and government clients.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience developing procurement documentation in consultation with stakeholders, supported by strong procurement, financial, and project management capability within the Commonwealth Procurement Framework and/or panel arrangements

• Oversee cost estimation and financial modelling services to support client outcomes, ensuring alignment with financial structures, planning activities, and agreed timeframes

• Experience in analysing alternative capability investment options within operational, industry, or national security environments is highly regarded.

• Ability to lead end-to-end tender processes, from planning and market engagement through to evaluation and contract award

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and influence outcomes

• Digital and ICT programs highly regarded

• Demonstrated leadership capability, including leading teams, mentoring others, and delivering high-quality outcomes

• Extensive experience in government, consulting, or professional services environments; seven or more years’ experience is highly regarded

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field

• CA or CPA qualifications, CIPS or PASA membership will be highly advantageous

• Defence or broader public sector experience is highly regarded.

SPA seeks a passionate and dedicated Director to join our Defence & Analytics practice. This senior role provides strategic leadership to high-performance, cross-functional teams conducting advanced quantitative and qualitative analyses of Australian and adversary military operations and capabilities across all warfighting domains, missions, and functional areas. 

The Director will lead multiple concurrent workstreams—often under tight timelines—while rapidly assimilating new information, technologies, and concepts. The role requires the ability to anticipate emerging analytical needs, balance immediate customer priorities, and consistently deliver rigorous, defensible insights that inform senior decision-makers at strategic and operational levels. 

This role will suit an experienced defence professional with demonstrated fluency across priority military operations and the enabling capabilities that underpin them. The successful candidate will also play a critical role in business development, leveraging existing networks to identify opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the growth of the Defence & Analytics practice. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide strategic leadership to cross-functional teams conducting complex analysis across all warfighting domains assessing Australian and adversary military operations, capabilities and capacities. 

• Foster a mission-focused, high-performance culture and provide strong leadership to project teams. 

• Demonstrate and apply deep expertise in military operations and support and enabling capability roadmaps 

• Build high level relationships with senior Defence stakeholders and be a trusted advisor. 

• Support Defence clients in the planning, design, and execution of experimentation and operational analysis aligned with joint force design and integration priorities.  

• Facilitate stakeholder engagements, including workshops and demonstrations.

Required Experience: 

• Must be an Australian citizen

• 15 + years relevant Australia Defence and Australia Federal Government experience in military operations and associated technologies

• Demonstrated expertise in providing one or more warfighting domains, missions, or functional areas to the Australia Defence Force

• Background in capability development, systems engineering, operations or mission analysis

• Proven ability to conduct rigorous research and analysis and form defensible conclusions using available, often incomplete, information

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, producing compelling and clear analytic products and briefings to support senior-leadership decision-making

• Experience leading small teams and projects in support of Australian Defence capabilities, or Australia Federal Government key projects

• Demonstrated ability to apply innovative analytical concepts, quantitative tools, and data visualisation methods to military problem sets and present results to executive-level leaders

• Experience in Australian military operational planning within an operational headquarters or in Australian Defence capability management (including requirements definition, capability documentation, modelling and simulation, or operations research)

• International Defence cooperation initiatives experience highly regarded

• Current Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) Australian security clearance, or willingness and ability to obtain and maintain one

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline; or substantial military experience plus an advanced non-technical degree and proven Defence capability acumen (e.g., completion of the Capability Technology Management Program or equivalent) 

• Current Positive Vetting (PV) Australian security clearance

SPA seeks a passionate and dedicated National Lead to head the Defence & Analytics practice.

This senior leadership role provides strategic direction for a high-performing team delivering advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis of Australian and adversary military operations across all domains—including Space and Cyber—and mission types. The team supports Defence and other government agencies with analytics, modelling, simulation, and systems engineering, including major contributions to the AUKUS submarines program, working collaboratively across Australia, the UK, and the US.

The National Lead will oversee four Operations Directors covering Maritime, Land, Air, Joint, Integrated Force, Space, Cyber, and AUKUS capabilities. This role requires inclusive, hands-on leadership, mentoring teams, engaging directly with clients, and maintaining a strong presence across SPA Australia offices, particularly Barton and Brindabella Park.

Key responsibilities include securing new Defence work, expanding analytics and modelling services to other government agencies, and partnering with National Leads across Consulting, Commercial, and Legal practices. The role demands a client-focused leader with established Defence and government relationships, experience in business development, tender processes, and pricing, and the ability to leverage SPA’s Australian and US networks to identify and win opportunities.

You will oversee resource allocation, ensuring the right expertise is applied to client challenges, and apply strong commercial and financial acumen to sustain and grow the practice. A strategic mindset, clear communication, and the ability to set the standard for excellence are essential. As National Lead, you will champion SPA’s values and business plan, driving the practice’s ambition to be the first-choice advisor to government.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide strategic leadership to the Directors and cross-functional teams conducting complex analysis across all warfighting domains assessing Australian and adversary military operations, capabilities and capacities.

• Oversee project and proposal reviews and submissions.

• Foster a mission-focused, high-performance culture and provide strong leadership to Defence & Analytics practice group.

• Build high level relationships with senior defence stakeholders, becoming their trusted advisor.

• Support the team to develop strategic tenders that win work.

• Identify strategic growth opportunities across Defence and government agencies that leverage and build the capability of the Defence & Analytics practice as well as the other SPA Australia groups.

• Strong client engagement and relationship management skills.

• Oversee a team of ~17 staff, including staff performance management, salary and promotions reviews, hiring and departure decisions.

• Develop and mentor the team for high performance as trusted advisors to government including service delivery, commercial focus, and people and leadership.

Required Experience: 

• Must be an Australian citizen.

• 15+ years of relevant experience in Defence and possibly other federal government departments or agencies.

• Demonstrated expertise in professional services within the Australia government landscape.

• Extensive understanding of capability development, modelling and simulation, systems engineering, operations or mission analysis. Demonstrated experience in these areas is also highly advantageous.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, producing compelling and clear analytic products and briefings to support senior-leadership decision-making.

• Security clearance, or willingness and ability to obtain and maintain one.
