Tye Young

Experience

Tye is an operations research analyst with expertise in analytical modelling, project management, and defence capability analysis, supporting various defence stakeholders and programs throughout his 8-year career.

Tye leads SPA Australia’s Defence and Analytics modelling and simulation team, helping clients understand complex capability, operational and investment decisions. He pioneered the establishment of a sovereign, in-country modelling capability that can operate independently of SPA US headquarters.

Tye has extensive experience as a requirements and project officer within the Defence Capability System. He has facilitated government approval of over one billion dollars in capital acquisition as lead Sponsor Representative and Deputy Sponsor Representative on AIR6000 projects.

Tye holds a Master of Philosophy and Bachelor of Science (Advanced) with Honours from the Australian National University, with research publications in astronomy and astrophysics. His early career includes roles as a RAAF Pilot Trainee and operations management.
